An electric guitar build - Just for fun...

I'm no luthier. I tinker and try projects. Jason knows what he's doing and his guitar is sweet.

After watching his build and some others I figured I'd give it a go. Nothing complicated and as is typical for me I went off the reservation and designed my own. "Designed," yeah, well, sort of...I had an idea in mind and then winged it for most of the project. Same as when I built the drawer slide CNC a few years ago.

Anyhow, here are some pictures of my Ace Hardware pine shelving board, one pick up (no other control), electric guitar.

    Here is the video build:

    Awesome,

You have a fantastic ability to simplify something that is complex.

I just love seeing the stuff you do.

Thanks guys. Very appreciated. This was a fun build - learned a lot about guitars. This was of course bare bones just to see if it would work. The "amp" I'm using isn't really an amp. It is a 10-year-old karaoke toy that my kids used to play with. It has two mic inputs, not really guitar inputs. A regular amp would probably sound a lot better. I was amazed that it worked as well as it did.

The biggest thing I wish I would have done differently was to make the neck narrower. It measures about 55mm and that's a big stretch for my normal sized hands. Somewhere around 48 to 50 would have been more comfortable. Now that I see how this can work I hope to make some more with different designs.

Again, thanks for the feedback... Now off I go to watch Jason's latest video...

I think, therefore I'm more confused than when I began.
