    Almost Finished Bench

I haven't put the Epifanes varnish on it yet but this is a bench I made using a Chevy tailgate as the back. The tailgate came from my friend Gaylon and it was off one of his dad's pick-ups. The license plates are some that he brought me. Evidently they didn't throw anything away because he had plates going back to the '50's. I'll put a couple on the ends of the bench, too. Right now the ones shown are just resting on the lip at the bottom of the front rail. The Redcedar also came from Gaylon's farm.

Very nice! Great history! I can understand the not throwing anything out. When my dad passed away I was cleaning out his shop and found a used toilet part from 30 years prior...... and they'd moved 19 years before so it even got moved.... lol

That's pretty cool. My son saw something like that on the net, back end of a pickup mounted to a wall that opened into a seat. I'd like to do that and wire the taillights up to some low voltage lighting however I don't have any wall space left in either of my shops to do it.

    Nice job, Cody.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone. My friend Gaylon had seen a similar bench at the Canton, TX First Monday Trades Day and asked if I could build him one. He's going to put it near the back door to his home, underneath the add-on carport that is there.

I'll try to get a picture in-situ when I get the finish on it and deliver it to him.

It's going to my friend Gaylon and he is a lifelong bachelor...and a wealthy one, too! Perhaps one of his nieces or nephews will inherit it.

lookin' good Cody. I like the use of disparate materials and re-using stuff. Great ideas.
