    Today's Goofin' Around

I never view my projects as fully complete so if they are made on a CNC I tend to post the pics here.

This was a little lamp project I made today. I'm thinking I could still polish in some finish on the wood to make it a bit glossier but we'll see.

The design was made in Inkscape and the tool paths were done in Jscut.

The bulb is a vintage copy of an old Edison tube. From different angles it gives a different look - sort of looks like some guys sitting around a campfire.

This was also a test to see how tight my tolerances were. I cut a .76" slot in each piece to hold the .75" pine center circle. It fit absolutely beautifully in each one - no wiggle and snug. I put a little glue in there too.

The finish includes a first coat of rubbed in shellac, then a light random layer of brown spray paint, and then a very light dusting of gold metallic spray paint. I was shooting for an old worn-in look. The cord is a vintage copy of a cloth wrapped wire found online. There is also a little toggle switch I put in the line.

The total cost in materials was less than $20. I may toss this one up on eBay and see what happens. I've never sold a thing I've made.

All opinions, good and bad are welcome.

Dan - that is really cool.

    I love the creativity.

I have never found EBAY to get the value that a piece like that deserves.

Don't judge what you get from EBAY as a real value.

That is worth far more than you will get on EBAY.

It looks like Conehead snowmen standing around a fire.
Pretty neat. I like that old light bulb.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments.

Instead of eBay I just set up an Etsy account and listed the lamp there. We'll see how it goes - my very first stab at listing for sale anything I've designed and built.

Looks great! I'm going to set up an Etsy storefront as well. I was going to just use Square Marketplace, Facebook, and my website but SO many people browse and search Etsy that it will be a must. Let us know how it goes, I bet someone will see it, love it, and know just the place in their home to put it!
