added lights to my push mower.

About 3 years ago I bought a front wheel drive Husqvarna lawn mower with a key start, at the time I got it because I thought the wife might help with the yard work more if she didn't have to pull start a mower (found out later she wasn't being lazy, she was having heart attacks).

Anyway, I was mowing with it the other night and though I have yard lights it was kind of hard to tell where I had been. I had some LED lights I had ordered a while back so I wired one of them into a toggle switch.

This mower has a starter on it and a battery but it doesn't have an alternator, it came with a a/c to d/c charger (little wall plug in, with a 2 prong connector to connect to the mower's harness). So I'm not sure how long I can run the lights before it kills the battery, guess I'll find out one of these evenings. It also can be rope started so not really a big deal if I kill the battery, just charge it when done.

I must be the only one around that likes to mow in the evenings since neither of my mowers (zero turn husqvarna didn't have headlights either) had lights.

    What do you think?

    THanks ~Mike

That's definitely thinking outside the box & a worthy solution as well. A+.

Re: added lights to my push mower.

To resurrect this thread a tad. My riding tractor has both an alternator & a battery.
It already has headlights, but they are only 1057 auto bulbs. Not very bright.
I am thinking of getting some LED driving lights, (think fog lights on a car)
& installing them on the cowling of the tractor.
They should be brighter on an order of several magnitudes of order.
