    cedar tables

A friend gave me a bunch (57) of cedar 1x4's 16' long. My son built another makeup cabinet for his wife and used some of it, I decided I would use up some of his left over pieces so as not to waste it. I also wound up using some additional cedar.

I made this one for our deck to cover a propane tank. It can also be used to cover one of the wife's plants in a snow or hail storm.

The top is 19" in diameter, the legs are 3 pieces glued up to give me 2" squares I turned they are 23" tall.

I thought I should make one for the guy that gave me the cedar, I did his a little differently.

The center on this is 4 of the 2" sections I glued up, then glued those together to give me 4" diameter. The top is 18" in diameter, the base is 17" wide 4 cedar boards glued up and cut out on the bandsaw. Over all height is about 24". I have yet to put the superdeck semi-transparent oil on it, figured I better let the exterior wood glue dry overnight first.

I'm not even sure the guy will want it but the wife said she'll take it if he doesn't want it.

What do you think of them?

    Thanks ~Mike

Nice to have good friends. Tables look great. Is that western cedar?

Thanks Brian, yea I think this is the stuff they call western red cedar. It's not the aromatic stuff though the dust is one of the woods that bothers my sinuses the most.

Turned out great, I looked at Menards when I was there, they want nine dollars for a 1x4x10 of cedar.

Thanks son, that would mean I got around $800.00 worth of cedar from Russ.

Outstanding, Mike, as is everything you do.

I have to say that I like the single, turned pedestal version the best. Your friend should be thrilled to have it. "click"
