New from Mountains of New York (USA)

This looks like a great group, looking forward to participating. I started building a CNC almost 5 years ago from a story in Make Magazine, and a book from "buildyourCNC" by Patrick Hood. Finished it in 4 months, then decided to show respect for the "old" ways by learning more traditional woodworking skills. I became so addicted to Woodturning that my 2'x4' CNC became a table for tools.

I finally decided to get the CNC going, so last Jan I bought Mach3 and ArtCam, and started to learn. My machine, though crude, was useful for learning.

I have just finished "updating" the machine (saved a few of the old parts) and built a sturdy new one from extruded aluminum. That was easy. Now the difficult part- learning ArtCam. Thanks to my wife, I can stop yelling at my computer, and listen to her yelling at it ( much cleaner language) We've successfully engraved a logo for my friends business, and are VERY excited to get working (playing) on our next projects.

Thanks in advance for all the inspiration I know we'll get from this group!

Welcome Carl. I also hail from the mountains of new York. I am in the Catskills, whereabouts are you?

I have not gotten into cnc stuff, but love flat work and turning.
