Re: any recommendations on finish sprayer?

I have a few gravity HVLP guns, and they are great for painting vehicles. For woodworking, you need to configure a rack or hook to set it down, and I really prefer more than 20 ounces. To get good performance the line and gun pressure has to be close to right on, along with the correct tip. The output is somewhat invisible, and hard to judge the output until it's on the subject.

I started out with siphon guns, and my absolute favorite is a Binks 7. HF has clones for a lot less, and they work fine. Once the media is ready, it's only a matter of a few adjustments, and I'm good to go. I also like the little detail guns with the lever on top. They have a wide variety of pattern choices, fluid/air adjustments and work with most any finish.

For top coating, I like the pressure pot (2 gal, 2 gal). When I sprayed lacquer, I had one with sealer, one with lacquer. No cups in the way, and plenty of finish.

For some detail work and toning with dye, I use a Paasche VL double action airbrush. I found one in a box in the 70's at a flea market for $20...couldn't pass that up.

I use an airless sprayer for big stuff:

With the right tip and filters, it gives me the best finish of anything I have ever used. Cleanup is a pain though.

For smaller stuff I use the Kobalt gravity feed gun that Leo has. It works fine and cleanup is easy.

For really small projects, touch ups, and detailed toning, I use a detail gun from Harbor Freight:

That little thing is awesome. It does a great job every time as long as I keep it clean.
