    Hello from Cardiff, UK

    Hi all,

Just moved into a new house with a garage and thanks to eBay have just purchased a table saw to get the workshop started.
I've dabbled with woodwork before, making the odd piece of furniture, but moved to a city where I could only afford a small flat (apartment) so had no space for hobbies. Now I've moved out of the city and 3 months ago moved into a house, so can start pottering around again.

Started googling for info on how to set up the saw once I collect it, and thought I'd join up here. Expect a thread with pics (and questions) once I get it here...

My other hobbies include being a bit of a kitchen knife geek, and a sharpness nut.

Looking forward to reading, learning and hopefully contributing.

    Cheers,
    Tom

Welcome Tom! I visited Cardiff in the summer of 2000. It's a beautiful city. Being a sharpness nut will serve you well when you get into hand tools.

Hiya, Tom_! I'm not sure I'm... qualified... to welcome you here, since I'm only freshly returned myself after a long hiatus. I think you'll find the folkies here to be pretty good folkies, good company, and good guidance.

Welcome to WOW Tom. I hope you find it enjoyable and informative.

I used to have a Table Saw...now it's a flat horizontal storage surface used for holding turning supplies and materials for the lathe. It's true, but I can always clear it off if I need to do some flatwork

    Cheers

Cheers for the welcomes, spent the weekend clearing out the garage ready for collecting the saw tomorrow. It's an old multico with a cast table, anticipating that it's going to be a wrestle to get into and out of the truck.

Won't be able to hook it up until I get the electrician back to connect up the power to the garage. Benefit of the house needing retiring was that I could get a 40amp feed put in place ready to run down there once I've laid the cable.

Can spend a bit of time setting it up and getting everything true. Not 100% sure of what condition it's in so keeping fingers crossed.
