That's what I don't like about Amazon. First only a small minority of their products qualify for prime. I ordered the saw yesterday and it cost me $5.35 + $8.50 shipping. We must be in different postal zones -- you're closer to the vendor.

No. I had to click the prime option. There were three sellers.

In the fine print for a old guy I saw it being prime. Don't know why they would display it that way because they aren't making anything on the extra shipping.

Yeah. I've gotten caught on it before. I found out that there are sellers on Amazon kinda like eBay. Then there are sellers that offer prime shipping, and then the stuff that's actually fulfilled by Amazon. I prefer the later. Just because someone offers prime shipping doesn't mean they ship fast. It might take them three days to actually ship your stuff, but when they do, it's two day shipping. 95% of the time, stuff fulfilled by Amazon ships the same day or the next morning. I got Prime for movies and shows, then I realized that they carry a lot of my woodworking stuff, and it keeps me from having to go to WalMart a lot of the time. That's a big deal for me.

Re: Beginner's (youth) Hand Saw Recommendation

The saw came in today and we messed with it for a few minutes. Overall, I'm okay with it for what I paid. The teeth can, in fact, be sharpened. It's 8 tpi and at the moment it cuts okay, but I'll want to take some time and properly sharpen it so that it cuts a little better. Naomi seemed to be fine with it, but the handle is made for a grown up so it's pretty thick. I may put a homemade handle on it in the future.
